The department comprises of 10 academics with various expertise in clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice and pharmacy education. The academics are the strengths of the department in many ways.
Our research areas are expansive and include precision medicine, medication safety, antimicrobial pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, pharmacoeconomics and safe disposal of unused medicine. We are involved in many national and international collaborations with academia, industry and public sector partners.
Our academics also offer consultation services on various areas via Unit Perundingan Universiti Malaya (UPUM). Get in touch with us by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pharmacy graduates who are interested in working on PRP by research, may pursue their postgraduate studies while conducting their PRP training here at the department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice. All our academics in this department are certified pharmacy preceptors by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.
The department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice coordinate and teach several pharmacotherapy modules of various organs and systems in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) programme. We aim to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills in quality use of medicine, evidence-based pharmacotherapy and provision of pharmaceutical care in community and hospital settings. The experiential learning experience that we design in the clinical clerkship modules at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) cover many clinical disciplines including geriatric, paediatric, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, oncology and infectious diseases.
The modules covered under our pharmacy practice components include ethics and legislation in pharmacy, hospital and community pharmacy practice, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics and management skills for pharmacists. The department currently has two labs (Community and Hospital Pharmacy Skills (CHarmS) 1 and 2) which are used for teaching community and hospital pharmacy skills for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) programme.
