Dean's Message

Welcome to the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Malaya, a top 100 university in the QS World University Ranking!

The establishment of the Department of Pharmacy under the Faculty of Medicine started in 1995. It then underwent the greatest transformation in history when it was awarded to be a Faculty in 2019, with the appointment of the dean and deputy deans on 1st September, 2019. Up until now, more than 21 batches have graduated, producing more than 1100 pharmacists.

Pharmacist is the most diverse profession in the healthcare sector that practices in various areas which include hospitals, communities, industries and regulatory. The Faculty of Pharmacy, UM, is offering a four-year Bachelor in Pharmacy [B. Pharm. (Hons)] programme, which equips the students for a professional career towards providing pharmaceutical care to the nation. The curriculum for this programme has been designed to meet the requirement of the Pharmacy Board Malaysia and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), which encompasses the academic and soft skill components in ensuring the students graduate to become professional pharmacists with high standard of ethics, and are capable of serving the nation in various aspects of the pharmaceutical services.

The Faculty of Pharmacy comprises of four departments; Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, and Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice. The academicians within each department are experts in various area of research related to pharmacy. The academic team within the faculty are both local and of international experts, providing a colorful essence to the pharmacy programme. And for this, I am certain that our graduates will become inspiring world-class pharmacists with the highest integrity, interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.

The Faculty of Pharmacy also welcomes local and international students to its postgraduate degree and research programmes. The facilities offered within the faculty and on campus allow postgraduate studies in various areas of research. The University of Malaya campus offers a wide range of facilities for an indelible learning experience, levelling to international standards.

Lastly, the faculty is committed to the provision and delivery of the best services to our stakeholders through efficient management and relentless determination in continuous quality improvement of every aspect of our endeavor.
